  1872 - joined the Annual Conference for the AME church. 1874 - ordained a deacon in Chattanooga by Bishop J.M. Brown. 1876 - ordained a deacon by Bishop A.W. Wayman. 1877 - became pastor of Salem Chapel in north Nashville. 1883 - graduated from Central Tennessee College. 1893-1898 - pastor at Quinn Chapel in Louisville, Kentucky. was involved in a lawsuit against a railroad company for not being given the 1st class accommodations that he and 5 other bishops paid for.
